Candid Portraits

Candid photography is an un-posed, unplanned and immediate capture of true moments in life. After several years of being a portrait photographer, I am finding that I am always drawn to the images from the session that are true, candid moments. It is more real and more personal.

Hot Hot Hot!

Outdoor wedding in July...what can I say. It was over a hundred degrees with extremely high humidity and no cloud cover at all. One of my Facebook friends mentioned that the weather was so hot that it felt like your face was melting off. Yes, I would agree with that one! But, on the upside, the wedding was gorgeous and I am pretty sure that I lost several pounds by the end of the day. :) Other than the heat, this wedding was a special treat since it took place outside of my hometown on the very grounds where I lived as a young child. It was a little nostalgic being back home... Congratulations Devon and Tim! May you have many years of happiness...

Have you ever experienced an entire wedding day in less than 3 minutes?

Great Nephew

Just a couple of weeks ago, my niece welcomed a precious little boy to her family. He made his debut several weeks early and spoiled our plans for maternity portraits. :) I am just glad that everyone is home and doing well. Congrats Elli and Caleb...he is a doll!

Small Town Life

I think at times, I miss the simplicity of small town life where the idea of rush hour is having more than two cars on the road at the same time and the grocery store is small enough that you can walk from one end to the other in just a few minutes. If you want to have a photo shoot in someone's backyard, you can knock on the door and they will probably give you a guided tour of their favorite spots. It was good to visit my hometown, population around 2500. I am not sure that I would want to live there because I have come to enjoy city life as well. But, it was good to visit... "K" family, thank you for toting me around on the golf cart and allowing me to photograph your little ones. :)

These Boots Were Made for Walking

I often wonder if people understand what it means to be a photographer. It doesn't mean that you have a nice camera. It is so much more than that. Someone who likes taking snapshots, looks for fun things to photograph while a photographer looks for a story that needs to be shared with the world...

Happy 2nd Birthday Times Two

I may be a little crazy but I really think that 2-year-olds are one of my favorite ages. Terrible two's? Maybe... Do they always cooperate? No... But, they are so cute and so full of personality. Each session is unique. You never know what is going to happen. Thank you "B" family for letting me play with your little ones....
